Repatriation of the deceased from/to abroad
To send the body of a foreign or national citizens abroad, or even for the repatriation of a Greek who died abroad, we will have to follow several procedures that in the end will enable us to timely and safely pass from the Greek border and the responsible customs office (for countries outside the EU).
With significant experience in the field of repatriation, we have handled numerous cases of corpses ’s return from Athens to different countries.
We offer equally important experience at the return of Greeks who died abroad.
Rendering of services:
- Coffin of special construction with metal cladding and wooden box that satisfies the hygiene prerequisites of sealing and transport license.
- Coffin Set (sheets, pillow, shroud, hand ribbon, face scarf).
- Transfer of the remains from the death’s place (Athens) to the cooling chamber of the cemetery.
- We transfer the mortal remains from/to the mortuary, in case that an autopsy is required.
- We resolve any bureaucratic process relating to the issuance of the burial license and the required death certificate
- The corpse’s embalming and the issuance of the death certificate
- Transfer of the deceased at the Eleftherios Venizelos airport and delivery to the cargo handling of the airline will close.
- The remuneration of our office
Additional charges
- Costs of document’s translation and validation by the Embassy of the country of destination (these vary depending on the country and the Embassy)
- Air fees for the corpse’s transport (those are obtained according to the airline, airport and the intended load weight)
- The corpse’s stay in the cemetery’s cold storage is charged with a daily fee.
Our prices apply to cases in which the deceased died in Athens. In the case that the death’s place is located outside Attica, we will need you to inform us about the exact death’s location so as to give you the extra price for the transfer to Athens.
